Database Engineer, Optimization


FLSA Status: Salaried/Exempt


Summary of Position:


This role is for a Database Engineer who will focus mainly on optimization, automation, data quality, and governance. You will be responsible for making stable and long-term improvements to our data structures as well as improving database management and deployment processes with an eye to scalability and security.


We are looking for an innovative, self-starter with a passion for data quality and efficiency. You have significant experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Azure, as well as modern database design and management. You enjoy working independently, planning and executing both large and small projects. You can estimate timing for projects, build a plan and meet the deadlines.


Key Activities:


  • Optimize SQL Server databases for OLTP needs as well as data warehousing
  • Automate processes relating to database management and deployment
  • Design and build data quality controls and monitoring
  • Audit databases and data infrastructure for slowly developing issues
  • Collaborate on solutions with DevOps, data engineers, and other developers
  • Thrive in a fast-paced start-up culture that expects great things every day

  • Keep up with latest database management and governance techniques
  • Exposure to Agile development
  • Works effectively with remote team members




  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in C.S., CIT/S, or data related field
  • 5+ years’ experience with MS SQL Server
  • 2+ years’ experience with Azure
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing is a plus
  • Exposure to modern ETL tools is helpful
  • Prefer exposure in the handling and security of sensitive data



  • This position is headquartered in Boise, ID. Remote work is available.
